Yet Another Post on Battling Writer’s Block

You ever need to write something down to figure out what you’re thinking? Like argue it around and around in circles but not in your head, the way you’ve been doing for the last six elf lifetimes? Argue it around and around in a way you can see, in black and white.

This blog post is like that.

Why can’t I write today? Because I’ve wrenched something in my neck and it hurts when I move? Because I didn’t write yesterday and I feel guilty? Because I can’t decide which writing project I want to work on? Because financial worries are circling my brain like sharks, snatching all my other thoughts up in their jaws? Other things? None of those things?

Probably all of those things, a combination of those things.

So I’m writing this blog. Because just getting the words down helps. Any words at all.

Anyway that just happens to be how I feel about it. What do you think? What helps you when you can’t write?

Starting is the hardest part. I find it helps to read over what I was working on yesterday (or the last time I wrote). By the time I get to the end I often feel ready to get going again.
